Abstract

Over years, surveys have been conducted and have proven that it is true that men have lower stress level as compared to women. In a survey that has been conducted, it was clear that a higher percentage of women are more vulnerable to stress than their male counterparts due to their daily activities. While conducting this survey, one used a sampling method whereby by one issued questionnaires to college students to gather the survey data. During the survey, data collected showed that it is true that men experience lower stress level than women.

Survey Project

Introduction

Naturally, women have been considered to be the emotionally weaker gender for a long time. This has come about mainly due to the lack of fair treatment between a girl and a boy child when being raised up by the society. Over years, the society has always favored the boy child as compared to the girl child. For example, some parents prefer a baby boy to a baby girl. Access to education has been dedicated to a male child more than a girl child, especially in the third world countries. It is vital to research on why males tend to have lower stress levels than females. This is because these findings will help one tackle causes that raise the stress level on women and help come up with better solutions for lowering their stress levels.

Methods of Research

While conducting this survey, several methods of data collection were used in order to come up with unbiased and reliable results. These methods include;

A)                Sampling

In the survey and statistics, sampling is defined as the process of selecting a portion of the population, randomly and using the selected sample to estimate the behavior of the entire population.

1) During this survey the group used the probability sampling procedure, whereby every variable had an equal chance of being selected to the sample. One began conducting this survey on college students on the 14 of May, whereby the group selected these samples randomly to avoid biasness. The group achieved this by selecting an equal number of boys and girls of different backgrounds and races. Boys and girls who were selected for sampling belonged to the age group of 18 to 25 years.

2) In this survey, the group made sure of equal representation of the whole population by selecting students from different backgrounds, ages, races and the group was also gender sensitive by ensuring that both genders were equally represented. By doing this, people were able to capture the general view of the entire population.

3) This sampling was quite decent, given resources that were at the group’s disposal and challenges that group encountered during the survey. Due to the fact that students are always on a rush, time was the main limiting factor that one had to deal with. Some people who were required to answer simple questions did not take the survey seriously. Another challenge arose as a result of conducting the survey face to face, because some participants were shy about answering some questions. Despite these challenges, group managed to gather the reliable data on the subject matter. The grop believes that some of these challenges could have been eliminated, if there were sufficient time allocated for students to answer survey questions comfortably.

B)                 Independent Variables

In this survey, the independent variable was gender or sex, that is, male and female, so one included in this project a decent representation of both genders. As a result of being well-organized, the group was able to keep all the data safe from loss and damage. In a survey of this stature, adequate time and a broader sampling unit should be provided in order come up with more reliable results.

C)                Dependent Variables

1) While structuring both open and closed questions, one considered several factors, such as age, background, among others. Different ages encounter different levels of stress. For instance, a young person has a lower level of stress than an older person; this is due to responsibilities that come with age. People from different financial backgrounds suffer from different levels of stress; a poor person may suffer from lack of finance, while a rich person may have an emotional stress. Students from wealthy families do not have to worry about working during vacations, while those from financially unstable families have to sacrifice their holidays for work. Most females are quite sensitive on their weight, especially the plus size females who end up under eating to look slim and attractive to the rest of society.

2) Prior to presenting questionnaires to the selected portion of the population, the group familiarized them with the sample questions and the whole process, in order to ensure the smooth operation during the actual survey.

The basic and understandable language was used while coding the open end questions, so as to achieve the most accurate feedback possible. One believes that through this concept one would be able to capture and achieve desired results.

 Is our hypothesis confirmed??

-The same number of male and female students have the middle level of stress but male students have the lowest level of stress than females.
So our hypothesis is confirme

Discussion

This survey has affirmed that it is actually true that the stress level in female is higher than in male; this survey was far wide and reaching, because the group was quite thorough in every stage. However, for a bigger project of this nature in the future, one would recommend that more time would be allocated and the scope of research should be wider.

Group Process Report

It was an excellent experience to work with partners, because one had the opportunity to share ideas and learn from one another. In future, every member of the group would even want to work with a bigger group in order to share experiences and reduce the workload.
