For mission statements to be effective and achieve their purpose, they need to have certain qualities, which include short, clear and to the point, memorable, accessible and understandable and defining the objectives of the organization. The mission statement should serve as the main framework with evaluation of current activities. There is the analysis of some mission statements.

The question of why the organization exists is clearly answered. “Why does the church exist?”

Opportunities provided through the mentoring program will promote the development of each participant in the following ways:

•          Participants will embrace education and expand ways in which they approach academic challenges.

This is the best mission statement. The objectives for the Mighty Male Mentoring program are put on emphasis in their mission statement. “The objectives are the reasons for being. Objectives are statements of a church's timeless intention to act. An organization can really drift away from the founding purpose if the objectives become unclear”

The mission statements give details about the organization its purpose and the drive behind it. According to Warren, “Nothing precedes purpose. The starting point for every church should be the question, 'Why do we exist?' Until you know what your church exists for, you have no foundation, no motivation, and no direction for ministry."

The mission statement is realistic and achievable. It clearly shows what the organization will be doing and gives s a future prospective of where it will be. “Make it realistic. Remember, your mission statement is supposed to be a summary of why you exist and what you do. It is a description of the present, not a vision for the future. If it bears little or no resemblance to the organization that your staff knows it will achieve little”

The drive behind the mission statement for the mighty male mentoring program is to transform the live s of the young individuals who will participate in the program. This is proven by the details about the programs that the mentees will go through, which is the purpose and drive of the mission of the Mighty Male Mentoring Program.
