Conflict resolution is the last result of two or more warring sides in attempts to find a solution that is amicable for all parties. Some of the means used for conflict resolution include peace building and diplomacy. These ways foster the creation of unity and togetherness after the disagreement.
In cases where the two sides are geared towards a peaceful resolution, it is possible to use non-violent forces. This will, however, only work if the sentiments are held by both sides. Also, in cases where both sides are strong believers of diplomacy, they will use peaceful means to resolve their conflicts. This not only shows an initiative to maintain a healthy and productive relationship in the future, but also reveals concern for the third parties who may be affected by the results of the clash.
When the style of avoidance in the resolution is used, there is bound to be peace. This style purposefully uses a passive approach to the problem. This is done in order to avoid touching on the inflammatory issues that may result in the use of violence. Although it delivers results peacefully, it is not the best method of resolving conflicts.
Circumstantial resolution, on the other hand, is bound to the result achieved by violent means. This is where warring sides are forced to come to an agreement due to damage done by the conflict both to human life and property. For this reason, the two sides are probably losing, and a continuance of the conflict will be detrimental to both of them.
There are some cases where both sides are competitive, and each party wants the other to concede. Each side might try to use assertive and dominant approaches to intimidate the other into concession. However, this might result into some violence.
Hostility should be avoided by all means. It degrades morality and principles of life. If violent approaches are not abolished, conflicts will erupt again in the future. Hence, peace should be the only option for parties that want to resolve a conflict once and for all.
