Of all the people who were interviewed, 49% were females while 51% were males. Their ages ranged between 10 and 39. Those aged between 10 and 24 were 1%, 19and below were 9%, 20-24 were 64%, and 25-30 were 17%. Those aged between 31 and 39 were 9%. Ninety three percent were undergraduates while 7% were postgraduate students. Distribution among faculties was engineering students who took the highest number in the group with 51%, followed by business 26%. Arts and human sciences had 17% while health students accounted for 6% of the total interviewees. Their knowledge about My LSBU portal website was determined as 65% said they had heard about the portal while 27% said they had never heard about it. Eight percent did not have an idea and did not respond to the question. Majority of the respondents had not used the portal. They were 48% while those who had used it were 44%. Eight percent did not respond to the question.
Different students had different views about the ease of access into the portal. 58% of the interviewees found the portal to be very easy to use, whereas 28% found it to be easy to use. Nine percent were not sure while 4% found it to be difficult. Only 1% found the portal to be very difficult.
The tasks that the students had just completed faired differently between different students. In task 3, 27% found it to be very easy while 22% found it to be neither difficult nor easy. Those who found the task to be easy were 26% while those who found to complete it to be difficult were 21%. Three percent found the task to be very difficult while 1% did not respond to the question.
In task 4, 29% found the task to be neither difficult nor easy. Twenty four percent found the task to be easy while 28% found it very easy. Twelve percent found the task difficult while 7% found the task to be very difficult. In task 5, 24% found it very neither easy nor difficult to use the portal, 27% found it easy, 10% found it difficult, 33% found it very easy and 6% found the portal very difficult to use in the solving process.
The interviewees were asked to rate the quality of the portal and the following responses were obtained. Ease of navigation was the first aspect and 54% percent rated the ease of navigation as good, while 21% rated it as acceptable. Sixteen percent said that it was very good and 8% said it was poor. Only one percent said it was very poor.
The font size was another parameter hat was used n the research. Fifty five percent said it was good, 22% said it was acceptable, 3% said it was poor, 19% said it was very good and only 1% said it was very poor. We also examined the user friendliness of the portal and 32% said it was good, 27% said it was acceptable, 12% said it was poor, 27% said it was very good while 2% said it was very poor.
After examining about the overall appearance of the site, 48% said it was good, 21% said it was acceptable, 17% said it was very good, 12% said it was poor and only 2% said it was very poor. The respondents were also asked to rate the images and 49% rated them as good, 23% acceptable, 20 said they were very good, 5% said they were poor while 3% said that the images in the site were very poor. The information on the web was rated as good by 41% of the respondents, 23% acceptable while 23% said it was very good, 12% said it was poor and 1% said that the information on the web was very poor.
