Database Access

Users of the database can be denied access into a database for various reasons, for examples, for security reasons, when database system faces security threats from its users. In most cases security breach mainly occurs when the user intend to use confidential information on the database information to defraud the company or its owner. Alternatively, database access can be denied if the users who may include staffs or customers are deliberately changing data from the database. For example, it can be done if a customer or any valid user manually changes information directly from the database. In case of denied access to the database, one will fail to pursue his selfish needs. Database protection is also necessary when unauthorized users successful access the data contained in the database. Likewise, database access can be denied in order to maintain and preserve data integrity.

There are many reasons, which can trigger someone to deny access environment, and among them is to ensure that only authorized users are able to access data from the company’s or individual database. Access control aims, therefore, to prevent hackers who gain unauthorized observations and scrutiny of data in another’s database. The regulation also prevents any illegal manipulation of data in the database. Access control also improves the integrity of data stored in the database. It also ensures strict confidentiality of the sensitive data in the system. In case of damage to the database server, users may be limited to access information from the server. Database access limitations aim, therefore, at reducing security vulnerability of data access, which may affect the company. It is, therefore, advisable for both the company and individuals to secure their database access environment at any time in order to ensure safety and integrity of the preserved data. Such limitation plays a crucial role since it prevents unauthorized users from accessing file and data in the system.
