People or individuals are now living longer than they used to in the past and this is due to various reasons. One of the reasons is improved medical facilities which include facilities and services of surgery and also the recent medicines are better and huge. The individuals also care about the food that they eat which leads to a healthy living. The employees in the second world countries and the industrial countries have the health insurances and hence are treated well any time that they are unwell. The recent doctors and surgeons are also trained well and are able to handle all the situations however complicated they may be. Through the good research, the doctors and the medicines have become very effective and efficient. The ageing population keeps increasing every year due to widespread improved medical facilities. These facilities cater for the injured or sick or aged people more quickly and because of the advances in the scientific research and modern technology, more of the treatments and vaccines for all sorts of illnesses have been discovered. Due to these reasons people are more likely to live much longer than they would have lived maybe fifty years ago (Fiori, Antonucci & Akiyama 2008).

When the aged population increases the higher levels, the government is forced to pay more money in terms of pensions. These people are above the age of 65 years who claim the pension payments. The life expectancy of the people keeps on increasing every year and the government has to pay the pension to every person who claims and is eligible for the same and the amount paid to them keeps increasing every year. This transcends to the point where the government will have less money every year to pay the pensions. Sociologists could be interested in these because they need to know the rates of the aged populations and how the government takes care of them. The growth of the aged population has the consequence of imbalance of the working age population in which is against the non-working age population. The dependency ratio meaning the young and the old population keeps increasing high and higher because the aged population numbers also keep increasing. The smaller the dependency ratio could be, the more the economic burden that is placed on the working age group. The improvement of the life of the elderly in the psychological and social spheres is studied by the sociologists. They look more into the leisure activities of the aged and their patterns of living (Scholl and Sabat 2008).

The other social effect is the increase of the foreign laborers who are imported from other countries. This is because the population growth of the aged people cannot be able to work. The people who are imported come with their own culture which they then impact on the residents of a certain country. This exchange of cultural ways is a social factor. Most of these are employed in the home cares for the aged and maintaining household work for the elderly. This is the case especially in Taiwan. During the immigration, there are so many illegal immigrants who enter the country who may cause moral decadency in the region which a sociologist may opt to look into. The immigrants also intermarry with the people of the land and this is another social factor that could be studied by a sociologist. The foreign brides provide for the family, the small businesses that are unpaid and cheap labors and also take care of the disabled elderly.

There are so many other factors that the sociologists might be interested in due to the increase of the aged persons. The sociologists also could provide solutions to the problems and consequences that are brought about the increase of the aged generations (Scholl and Sabat 2008).
