Human Behavior and its Various Points of View

Human behavior is the way people react and act to situations and circumstances. Although most people acts differently, some act the same according to a set of characteristics of a specific group. It is majorly influenced by successive phases of human life which involve distinct set of psychological, physical, and behavioral features. The phases of growth that shape human behavior include parental life, infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. People behaves like other animal species, and it is along these phases that they develop their behavior although they have the capability to change their behavior. The paper is going to explain and describe human behavior from the various social scientific point of view such as scientific theories, believes, race, class, gender, religious inclination, and act.

Different human behavior theories such as the theory of development, psychoanalytic theories, Piaget’s theory, and learning theory have strived to explain human behavior and its development during human life. The development theory stresses that human behavior is majorly influenced the genetic endowment and the surrounding of an individual during her early life. Most of the human behaviors are acquired during infancy and childhood from the people we associate with in our surrounding. Psychoanalytic theories and Piaget’s theory focuses on the emotional development and their effect on personality and behavior. They argue that the foundations of human behavior are during their early life and are influenced by psychological and biological forces operating within their family. On the other hand, learning theory focuses on people’s actions and experiences that result in different behaviors. It stresses that a child’s behavior is normally shaped through learning process involving reward and punishment extended by teachers, parents, and peers. Children will tend to adopt the behavior of others due to their constant interaction which will shape their behavioral responses.

Secondly, human behavior differs in term of the class in the society. Social status is a powerful force that influences and changes a person’s behavior. Class difference influences how people think, feel, and act. People with higher status in the society behave differently compared to their counterparts. Most people display traits and behaviors associated with their status. The more people pursue status in society, the more they experience a change in their behavior. It is common to hear the words have and have-nots due to the disparity in social status. High-class people in the society are always extravagant, philanthropic, and show a lot of pride while the less fortunate in the low class are more humble. A class is also associated with a person’s independence in the society as high-class people will tend to be more independent compared to the middle-class and low-class people. Moreover, researchers say that people in the higher class behave less ethical and more selfish that their counterparts in the lower class. Finally, low status individual tend to direct more status-related behavior to their counterparts which dictate their social behavior.

Another human diversity influencing human behavior is gender. The difference in terms of masculinity and feminine in sexes influences human behavior. The division of labor for the different sexes is the main factor that leads to similarities and differences in social behavior. For instance, men are associated with a hard job such as masonry and women on the light job such as domestic chores. The society has formed believed from observation and activities which have influenced the behavior of different genders. For example, because women have been observed to be good in babysitting they are believed to be caring. This has led to people forming gender expectations and gender roles. As a result, gender roles contribute in influencing individual’s behavior through social and biological processes. The current society associates certain traits with a particular biological sex.

Apart from gender, religion inclination has an impact on human behavior. Each religion upholds certain faith, belief, and ethics which is passed from one generation to another. It greatly affects people’s daily life on the way they think, dress, how they act, and their choices. A child grows while knowing and upholding the expected codes, rules, and morals according to the specific religion. It is easy to differentiate the behavior of people from different religions such as Christians and Muslims. People tend to make their choices based on their religions and teaching. Religion can influence human behavior in an extend that people believe that they have no power over their life but there is someone or something great who has power over their lives. The religious teachings have succeeded in influence the behavior of atheists by setting codes and moral standard in the society. Religions are also known to shun wicked behavior while advocating for moral behavior in the society.

Finally, human behavior differs in term of a race due to the differences in terms of believes. For example, the whites believe in theories and scientific practicality while blacks believe in myths. There are thousands of myths that are existing in Africans culture that have shaped their believe and values in life. These myths and believes are passes from one generation to another. Africans tend to associate themselves with these myths which have greatly influenced their behavior in life. The teachings of some of the myths are uncouth hence negatively influencing a person believe and practice. Although people are the same despite their origin, some myths have made African believe that they are poor compared to whites. Such myths have made Africans feel inferior over the white. On the other hand, whites believe in theories and scientific practicality which have shaped their behavior. They believe in theories such as the theory of development hence they ensure that their children receive the best form of treatment during phases of growth from fetus to adulthood. Apart from believing in human behavior theories, they believe on scientific practicality such as behavioral genetics. Behavioral genetics tend to explain how genetics plays a major role in growing, learning and development than the surrounding environment. As a result, white associate behavior with theories and scientific theories.

In conclusion, human behavior is influenced by more than one factor in the society. These factors play a major role in shaping an individual’s behavior in the society. There are several scientific theories that have tried to explain human behavior such as the theory of development, psychoanalytic theories, Piaget’s theory, and learning theory. These scientific theories focus on phases of growth that shape human behavior include parental life, infancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. They strive to explain that human behavior is influenced by genetic endowment and upbringing as well as emotional development and learning process. Nevertheless, there are other factors such as believes, race, class, gender, and religious inclination that contribute to human behavior. High-class people in the society are always extravagant, philanthropic, and show a lot of pride, while the less fortunate in the low class are more humble. Also, religion affects people’s daily life on how they think, dress, act, and their choices while upholding the expected codes, rules, and morals.
