The quality indicators for high pretension are several. Women who are hypertensive should put these indicators in to consideration. They are very helpful.
The first indicator is screening. Women should be tested for systolic and diastolic blood pressure as a measure of care at least once pre year. The quality for evidence rates at three. This helps to bring down complications that come with hypertension. People with a new diagnosis should get an assessment at least thrice on different days. The benefit here is that it prevents side effects that come with hypertension for instance fatigue.
The history and physical wellbeing of the patients should be included in the assessment. This reduces side effects from medication. Hypertensive women who may be taking drugs that may cause hypertension should be stopped before pharmacotherapy is started. This also brings down meditational side effects.
Laboratory test done on a woman should contain at least five issues among urinalysis, glucose, potassium, calcium, creatinine, uric acid, cholesterol and triglyceride. This prevents other symptoms from occurring for example renal failure. It decreases synergistic risk of cardiovascular conditions.
The other indicator is treatment. Treatment for stage one to three hypertension involves the modification if the patients’ lifestyle. This helps avoid side effects that come with medical therapy.
First line pharmacotherapy for stage one to three hypertension should be immunotherapy with thiazide, diuretics or beta blockers. The medical check up should indicate failure of one of the above contraindications. For diabetics it should include ACE inhibitor or a calcium channel blocker. This help decrease hypertension complications (McGlynn 2000).
Hypertensive patients are obligated to visit a doctor at least two times in a year. The importance of this is that it brings down the possibility of having hypertensive complications and medical side effects.
Lastly, patients with hypertension who have persistent elevations of over 160 SBP or over 90 DBP should be provided with one of the following interventions put in the medical record; A change in dose and repeated awareness regarding lifestyle modifications.
