When reading about the undergraduate program in engineering at Penn University, I felt that it truly resonated with my high school background since during my studies, my major courses were physics, chemistry, calculus, algebra, and cisco networking. Thus, I realized that the university offered many courses that were directly linked to my interests. Besides, I also read a lot about the university and its history, and found out that it is rich with cultural life and diversity. The university offers students to explore both campus and the city as well as encourages cultural exchange, and it is something I can bring as a prospective student. I am from the United Arab Emirates, so I have an interesting cultural background I will bring with me to the United States. As I have studied in Canada before, I have already learned how to deal with culture shock. My Canadian experience taught me to share my culture with others, but at the same time, it taught me to listen to other people and learn from their cultural luggage. Thus, I believe I will bring an interesting story behind me to the Penn University, and I will be able to grasp the diversity on campus fully.

While in Canada, I studied English, and I also took engineering courses that prepared me for the chosen major. That is why I think I am prepared to the studies ahead of me. Of course, I do realize that the courses I had were just the basics, and the bachelor’s education is much more complicated and challenging, but I am thankful for the courses because they showed me what to expect from the further studying as well as proved to me that engineering was the major I wanted to pursue and learn throughout my life. During the engineering program, I was able to build many useful things and saw what engineering looked like from the inside, and that helped me to expand my perspective and drive me toward getting a degree in engineering a lot. I can say with confidence that my motivation is backed-up with professional and educational experience, and that makes me a convincing candidate who is willing to work hard and devote one’s time and passion toward the chosen field.

I consider myself a perfectionist and a workaholic, and I always approach the tasks I am given with originality and creativity. I have leadership skills, and I am very passionate about my studies. I consider myself a very determined individual, too, and that is the reason I have been chosen the best international student among 40 other students during my education in Canada. My studies abroad taught me to be independent, and they also expanded my worldview making me think about others who may need help. Thus, I spent many hours working as a volunteer, and it was an unforgettable experience. I am a passionate and aspiring young person, and I think I contribute a lot to Penn University. I also expect to learn many things here, so it will be an unforgettable learning experience.
